Formed in Liverpool in 1960 and comprising John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, “The Fab Four” are regarded as the most influential band of all time and were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and the recognition of popular music as an art form. The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time, with estimated sales of 600 million units worldwide. They are the most successful act in the history of the US Billboard charts holding the record for the most number-one hits. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility, 1988, and each principal member was individually inducted between 1994 and 2015. In 2004 and 2011, the group topped Rolling Stone's lists of the greatest artists in history.

KISS was an American rock band formed in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). With their makeup and costumes, the band members took on the personas of comic book-style characters: the Starchild (Stanley), the Demon (Simmons), the Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss). During the second half of the 1970s, the band became one of America's most successful rock bands and a pop culture phenomenon.
KISS is regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of all time, as well as one of the best-selling bands of all time, claiming to have sold more than 75 million records worldwide. Kiss has also earned 30 Gold albums, the most of any band from the United States. On April 10, 2014, the four original members of Kiss were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
